My name is Mike. I’m a Software Engineer on the CERT team at Facebook where I build software to detect, prevent and respond to compromise. Before I worked at Facebook, I was a Senior Software Engineer at Etsy, the world’s handmade marketplace. Before I worked at Etsy, I worked for iSEC Partners, an awesome information security consulting firm. Before that, I worked at another leading information security consulting firm and I briefly went to school.

I speak at conferences every now and then. I’ve spoken at over a dozen security and development conferences in 7 states and 3 countries on topics including big data analytics in web application security environments, mobile device/operating system security, mobile exploit intelligence, secure mobile development, secure php development, information security education, etc.

I’m obviously inspired by information security, especially by those who build rather than those who break. I think that information security should drive development and innovation forward, not restrict it.
